Smoking Cessation Trust appeals to the African American community to give up smoking for Lent

Doc Griggs welcomes Smoking Cessation Trust

Eric Griggs, M.D. (a.k.a. Doc Griggs), radio and TV healthy living physician ambassador welcomed SCT Management Services CEO, Mike Rogers, to the Doc Griggs radio hour on WBOK radio 1230 AM, New Orleans oldest predominately African American radio station to let folks know about the Trust and how to contact it to apply for benefits.  Doc Griggs asked Mike, "What's the catch?", to emphasize that this is a legitimate program available to all Louisiana residents who began smoking cigarettes prior to Sept 1, 1988.  When was the last time something legitimate was actually free?  Well, the Smoking Cessation Trust is, having been established with Tobacco industry money to repair damage it caused by falsely representing their products as safe to the public in a long lived conspiracy to represent their products as safe.  Information revealed in the 1990's finally showed that the Tobacco industry was indeed aware of the dangers of their products even as they continued to represent them as safe.  The Smoking Cessation Trust uses Tobacco industry funds awarded to the Scott Class to fund cessation benefits for Louisiana residents who began smoking cigarettes prior to Sept 1, 1988.  SCT will be available through mid-2022.
