Smoking Cessation Trust signed a health plan agreement with Louisiana Healthcare Connections ("LHC"), one of Louisiana's largest participants in the Bayou Health program offered to many Louisiana residents as a part of the Louisiana Medicaid Program.
LHC will promote the Smoking Cessation Trust free smoking cessation program to those of its members residing in Louisiana who began smoking cigarettes prior to September 1, 1988, as required by the judgment in the Scott, et al verses American Tobacco Company, et al ("the Scott case"). This case, which was adjudicated by the Civil District Court of Orleans Parish, created a 10 year, state-wide cessation program that was funded 100% by some of the largest companies in the tobacco industry itself.
"We are very excited that LHC has agreed to help get the word out to its membership across Louisiana!" said Mike Rogers, CEO of the SCT Management Services, L3C., the company that manages the Smoking Cessation Trust program. "We expect that LHC will be a great partner to us in our efforts to reach Louisiana cigarette smokers who qualify under the Scott Class."
